Italy, one of the founding states of the European Union, is in eighth place in the Nominal Gross Domestic Product global rankings of World Bank, International Monetary Fund and CIA, and is the 25th country for per capital GDP in the world (data: 2015).

Italy has by far the largest number of small and medium-sized enterprises among the European countries. In the manufacturing sector, the Italian firms are two times and half the number of the German companies, two times the number of the French companies, more than three times the number of the English companies. This is a sign of great vitality, of prevalence of enthusiasm and ability to take risks. Often, however, these companies remain too small to be properly structured and face the global competition and the investments in research costs.

The European Union has created and today manages funding granted to the European companies to start promotion and internationalization activities to the foreign markets, to increase their competitiveness and expand their trade relations with the countries outside Europe.

The European Commission in 2014 approved the release of about 100 billion € until 2020 (approximately 17 per year) for the European companies and their internationalization;

A total of 15 billion € (2 per year) are reserved to the Italian companies.

欧盟已创建并管理一批资金，这批资金是针对帮助欧洲企业开始海外市场促销和国际化活动,提高他们的竞争力和扩大贸易，促进企业与欧洲以外的国家的关系。

从 2014 到 2020 年，一共批准了 1000 亿欧元，差不多每年 170 亿。其中150亿
